Noah Kaufman, MD

Emergency Physician & Founder, KaufCare Advanced Urgent Care

Noah Kaufman, MD, is a board-certified emergency physician, entrepreneur, and founder of KaufCare Advanced Urgent Care in Denver, Colorado. After nearly two decades in emergency medicine, Dr. Kaufman founded KaufCare to explore a different model of healthcare—one built around physician autonomy, transparent pricing, advanced point-of-care capabilities, and technology that strengthens rather than replaces the physician-patient relationship.

A longtime advocate for physician-led healthcare, Dr. Kaufman is particularly interested in how artificial intelligence can augment clinical judgment, reduce administrative friction, expand physician capabilities, and help restore medicine’s focus on patients. His work sits at the intersection of frontline clinical care, healthcare entrepreneurship, AI, and the redesign of healthcare delivery.

Dr. Kaufman also serves as a medical expert and consultant and has spent years communicating complex medical issues to both professional and public audiences. His perspective on AI is grounded not in theoretical possibilities, but in a practical question: How can we use these tools to make physicians more capable, independent, and human?

Eli Smith, FACHE

President, Baylor Scott & White — The Heart Hospital South Market

Eli Smith, FACHE, is a results-driven healthcare executive with more than 25 years of leadership experience spanning hospital operations, strategic planning, physician enterprise management, and post-acute care. Known for his data-driven approach and collaborative leadership style, Smith has consistently delivered strong operational and financial performance while advancing patient-centered care and fostering high-performing teams.

Smith now serves as President of the Baylor Scott & White Health—The Heart Hospital South Market, a $362M enterprise, made up of The Heart Hospital Dallas, Ft. Worth and Waxahachie campuses. Smith has served in that role since May 2025. In his first year with the hospital, THH Dallas has expanded its surgical capabilities to include the addition of open-heart and valve surgery; as well, The Heart Hospital Waxahachie has expanded its portfolio of services to include the addition of dedicated interventional cardiology and electrophysiology physicians. And just last month, THH Waxahachie opened its new electrophysiology lab and advanced imaging suite.

Prior to joining The Heart Hospital, Smith had served as Chief Executive Officer of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Frisco, a physician-owned, joint-venture hospital recognized for its surgical excellence and specialty care services. During his tenure, he led significant growth across multiple service lines, including orthopedics, spine, and maternal services, while driving notable improvements in EBITDA and overall operational performance. Under his leadership, the hospital expanded its robotic surgery capabilities, and achieved national recognition as a Total Program Observation site (1 of only 9 nationally).

Preceding his time in Frisco, Smith served as Chief Operating Officer of West Jefferson Medical Center in New Orleans, part of LCMC Health. There, he oversaw day-to-day operations and led major strategic and capital initiatives, including a $95 million facility master plan and the expansion of key service lines such as neurosciences and bariatric surgery. His leadership contributed to substantial growth in surgical volumes, improved patient throughput, and enhanced physician alignment through the establishment of structured business planning processes.

Earlier in his tenure with LCMC Health, Smith served as Chief Strategy Officer for the Adult Hospital Market and as Vice President of Business Development at University Medical Center New Orleans. In these roles, he led system-wide strategic planning efforts, physician recruitment, and the development of new clinical programs, including outpatient behavioral health and ambulatory surgery services. His work consistently resulted in improved access to care, increased patient volumes, and strengthened market positioning.

Smith’s career also includes senior leadership roles at Saint Francis Health System in Tulsa, Oklahoma, where he held multiple executive positions over a 14-year period. His responsibilities ranged from leading large-scale ambulatory operations and home care services to directing strategic planning and accountable care initiatives. Across these roles, he demonstrated a consistent ability to improve operational efficiency, drive revenue growth, and implement innovative care delivery models.
